What an honor it is to be able to celebrate the career of Arthur Penn, unquestionably one of the greatest and most influential American directors of the last 50 years. His accomplishment with Bonnie and Clyde—a film that crystallized and galvanized an entire generation even as it toppled 40 years of Hollywood conventions and restrictions—is alone enough to make him a legend. But his career-long work with the greatest of actors and unique ability to define the spirit of a time make him one of the greatest directors in film history. MIFF is thrilled to present a retrospective of Penn's work that will include Little Big Man, Bonnie and Clyde, The Left-Handed Gun, and Night Moves.
